Low Modulus, Neutral Cure Sealant for Lead Flashing and Soft Metals
EVERBUILD® Lead Mate® Sealant is a high-performance, low modulus, neutral cure silicone sealant specifically designed for adhesion to soft metals such as lead, brass, and copper. It serves as an effective alternative to traditional mortaring methods for securing lead flashing and sheet into brick, stone, and concrete.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Exceptional Adhesion: Bonds effectively to metals without staining or corroding soft metals, unlike conventional sealants.
-
Flexible & Durable: Offers excellent flexibility with ±25% movement capability, accommodating structural movements.
-
Weather Resistant: Provides outstanding external weathering properties, withstanding temperatures from -50°C to +150°C.
-
Low Dirt Pick-Up: Maintains a clean appearance over time, reducing maintenance needs.
-
Minimal Shrinkage: Exhibits low (<5%) shrinkage during vulcanisation, ensuring long-lasting seals.
-
Paint Compatibility: High resistance to plasticizer migration allows application over water-based and solvent-based paints.
-
Certified Quality: Conforms to ISO11600 F25 LM and EN15651-1 Class F25LM CC standards.
Ideal For
- Securing lead flashing and sheet into brick, stone, and concrete.
- Sealing expansion joints in construction applications.
- Weather sealing and joint sealing to pre-formed panels.
- Sealing soft metals such as lead, copper, and zinc.
- Parapet and roof weather sealing applications.

Application Instructions
-
Surface Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and other contaminants.
-
Priming: Priming is generally not required, but testing on small areas is recommended.
-
Application: Cut the tip of the cartridge, attach the nozzle, and cut to the desired width. Apply using a standard sealant gun. Smooth the sealant with a suitable tool within 5 minutes of application.
-
Joint Design: For optimal performance, joints should have a width between 6mm and 40mm, with a depth of 50% of the joint width.
Limitations
- Not suitable for use against bitumen asphalt, neoprene, and certain organic elastomers.
- Do not use on surfaces that bleed oil, solvents, or plasticizers.
- Not recommended for use in areas subject to continuous water immersion.
Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools and excess sealant immediately with white spirit. Cured sealant must be removed mechanically.
