Description
Salt-Resistant Cementitious Waterproofing Slurry for Positive & Negative Pressure Applications
Sovereign Hey'Di K11 is a high-performance, cementitious tanking compound designed to protect structures against water ingress and hydrostatic pressure. Suitable for both internal (negative side) and external (positive side) applications, K11 forms a durable, waterproof barrier on concrete, brick, and masonry substrates without the need for additional support structures.
Key Features & Benefits
- Dual-Side Application: Effective on both positive and negative pressure sides of structures.
- High Water Resistance: Withstands over 10 bars of hydrostatic pressure with a 4mm coating in two layers.
- Salt Resistance: Prevents the movement of hygroscopic salts; ideal for salt-contaminated walls.
- Potable Water Safe: Certified for use in contact with drinking water, suitable for water-retaining structures.
- BBA Certified: Covered by British Board of Agrément Certificate 91/2608.
Product Specifications

Application Guidelines
- Ensure substrates are clean, sound, and pre-wetted with clean water.
- Mix powder with Sovereign SBR Bonding Agent diluted 2:1 with water to create a smooth slurry.
- Apply the first coat (Grey) at a minimum of 2mm using a block brush.
- After approx. 4 hours, apply the second coat (Grey or White) at similar thickness.
- Protect the coating from drying too quickly and allow to cure for at least 24 hours before additional finishes.
Application Notes & Best Practices
-
Recommended Tools:
What You'll Need
- Block Brush or Masonry Brush: For even, heavy-duty application of slurry across concrete and masonry surfaces.
- Paddle Mixer (Drill Attachment): Ensures a smooth, lump-free slurry mix for consistent performance.
- Mixing Bucket (Clean Plastic): Use a minimum 20 L bucket to avoid spillage and ensure full mix activation.
- Protective Gear: Gloves, goggles, dust mask, and coveralls to prevent skin and eye contact with alkaline cement-based material.
- Environmental Conditions: Apply only when ambient and substrate temperatures are between +5 °C and +30 °C. Protect from frost, direct sunlight, and strong wind during and after application. Do not apply to frozen or excessively hot surfaces.
- Curing Times: Allow at least 24–48 hours before exposing treated surfaces to light foot traffic. Wait 3–5 days before applying render, plaster, or tile adhesives. Full curing typically occurs after 7 days under standard site conditions (20 °C, 65% RH).
- Aftercare: Protect newly applied coatings from mechanical damage and excessive drying. If rapid drying is likely, lightly mist with clean water or cover with damp hessian for 24 hours.
Typical Applications
- Basements and cellars – waterproofing walls and floors
- Water-retaining structures – fishponds, tanks, bunds
- Salt-contaminated walls – chimney breasts, barns
- Swimming pools – pre-tile waterproofing
- Lift pits and inspection chambers – below-ground waterproofing
- Alternative damp proof course – where physical DPC is impractical
Ancillary Products
- Sovereign Hey'Di Barrier Mortar: For watertight fillets at wall/floor junctions
- Sovereign Hey'Di Powder X: For halting active water leaks
- Sovereign SBR Bonding Agent: Improves adhesion and elasticity of K11
- Sovereign Renderlite Renovating Plaster: Breathable finish post-tanking
Usage & Safety
- Contains cement—may cause skin irritation, serious eye damage, or respiratory irritation.
- Always wear gloves, goggles, and dust protection when mixing or applying.
- Ensure good ventilation during use.
- In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with clean water and seek medical advice if needed.
