Corrosion-Inhibiting One-Component Primer for Steel Reinforcement Protection

Mapei Mapefer 1K is a one-component, ready-to-use, anti-corrosion cementitious coating specifically designed for protecting reinforcing steel in concrete repair applications. It forms a durable, flexible barrier against aggressive environmental agents such as chlorides and carbon dioxide, and ensures excellent adhesion between steel and repair mortars. Mapefer 1K complies with EN 1504-7 standards for corrosion protection and is an essential part of long-term concrete remediation systems.

Application Instructions

1. Steel Prep: Mechanically remove all rust, scale, grease, and contaminants from reinforcement bars (minimum to SA 2½).
2. Mixing: Slowly add Mapefer 1K powder to water and mix until a smooth, lump-free paste is formed.
3. First Coat: Apply the first coat by brush and allow it to dry for at least 2 hours.
4. Second Coat: Apply the second coat in the opposite direction. Allow full drying before applying repair mortar.

Limitations

• Do not apply below +5°C or above +35°C ambient temperature.
• Not suitable as a standalone structural repair product — use in combination with Mapei mortars.
