Plaster Mesh Tape – Butyl-Backed for Sealing Meshed Membranes
Biokil Crown Plaster Mesh Tape Black is a specialist single-sided sealing tape designed for use with meshed damp-proofing membrane systems. It features a robust butyl adhesive backing and a mesh-faced upper surface that acts as a secure key for plasters and renders.
This tape is primarily used to seal and reinforce joints between adjacent sections of meshed membranes in above-ground waterproofing and damp-proofing applications. It is also ideal for covering damaged areas or failed fixing points, maintaining the integrity of the membrane layer while still allowing for finishing coats.
Key Features & Benefits
- Mesh-Faced Surface: Provides a reliable plaster/render key for finishing layers.
- Waterproof Butyl Adhesive: Ensures strong adhesion and seals against moisture ingress.
- Multi-Purpose Repair: Use for covering membrane joints, sealing around fixings, or patching minor damage.
-
Flexible & Easy to Apply: Conforms to membrane surfaces and cuts easily to size.
Typical Applications
- Sealing butted joints in meshed cavity drainage or damp-proofing membranes
- Creating a continuous plasterable surface across joins and overlaps
- Covering fixing points where plugs may have failed to grip
- Repairing minor surface damage in meshed membranes
Installation Guidance
- Ensure the membrane surface is clean, dry, and free from dust or oil.
- Cut the tape to the required length using scissors or a utility knife.
- Peel back the protective liner to expose the butyl adhesive.
- Press the tape firmly over the joint or damaged area, mesh side facing outwards.
- Proceed with plastering directly onto the mesh face once fully adhered.
